Congratulations to captain Jack Lustig who lead his team PG2 to victory in the Woodland Conference Swim Meet. Jack won the 200IM, was 2nd in the 500 free. He was part of both the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay and both relays won and set Conference and Pool Records. Also congratulations to Matt Koronka, Max Luksich, Gus Jiardini, Rylan Nowak, Alex Reger, Tommy Theurich, Fernando Torres, Josh Bajorek, and Jose De Le Pena for scoring points in the Varsity and/or JV Conference Swim Meet Victory!
Pius XI Wrestling
Jack Lustig won the 200 IM and 500 free and part of the 200 medley relay and 400 free relays that won, to help the swim team win the Bob White Invite. Matthew Koronka also scores points for the team.

This tournament was started after the merger of the WISAA and the WIAA. Milwaukee Lutheran invites all of the former WISAA schools. This year there were 17 teams competing. Pius placed second to Wisconsin Lutheran. It was a great showing for our young team (only two seniors).

Highlights:
1) Eight out of our eleven wrestlers made the semis
2) Four made it to the finals
3) Jonathan Crump upset the #4 seed and then the #5 seed to make the semis
4) Pius had 19 wins in their 22 matches
The Pius XI Varsity wrestling team took 11 wrestlers to the 11 team St. John’s Military Academy Wrestling Invite. We finished with 6-1st place finishers, 3-2nds and a 4th place finish because of an injury. The team took 1st place with 203 team points and 2nd place only having 173.

Greenfield/PiusXi Co-op Girls swim team wins their sectional. Lily Lustig was part of the winning 200 free relay that won their race and received the automatic state qualifying spot at next weekends state meet in Madison. Lily has qualified for the WIAA Division 1 state swim meet three years in a row. Lily Lustig, Zena Jiardini and Emma Knowlton were scoring members of the team that won the Sectional meet.

Congratulations to our Girls Varsity Tennis Team on a Great Season. All of our PXI Singles advanced to the second round in their sub-sectional matches.
DJ Singleton lead our Popes with 4 goals in a 9 to 4 rain filled game at South Milwaukee. Rey Sprewer also added 3 goals, and Mason Waas closed out the scoring late in the game. The Popes soccer team is now 14-2-1 overall. Wednesday will be our next game at home against Whitnall.

Girls Tennis: The Lady Pope Tennis Team will be volunteering at the open-door cafe at the Cathedral of St. John Evangelist on Sunday, October 1st.
Boys Soccer: Boys Soccer worked a four week camp for unprivileged kids in the Waukesha area.
Football: The football team raked leaves for home owners around Pius XI.
Girls Cross Country: The girls’ cross country team will be planting blubs all along the new fence in the main parking lot.
Girls Volleyball: On Sunday, October 1, our team brought, prepared, and served a Sunday brunch to residents staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Each of my players donated $5. I used this money to purchase eggs, ham, rolls, hash browns and cookies. Each player also brought an additional food or drink. We cooked, cleaned, washed dishes, and swept the floor.
Boys Cross Country: The boys’ cross-country team runs the water stations for the indoor half-marathon and marathon at the Pettit Center the second weekend in February. The proceeds benefit the Pettit and its programs.
Boys Volleyball: The boys’ volleyball team did go help a former Pius teacher who is very sick. We get their home and yard ready for the winter. The guys were happy to step up last Friday and help him. We hope the simple act of support from the community will lighten his load and allows him to recover to full strength.
Boys Basketball: The Boys Basketball Team participated in an after school meal program. All varsity team members made and donated food items for the program.
Girls Basketball: The Girls Basketball Team hosted the TLS Christmas Party on December 20th in the student union at Pius XI.
Wrestling: The Wrestling Program helped St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Milwaukee with preparing 192 bag lunches. The bag lunches were distributed to the guests of The Gathering of Southeast Wisconsin the next day.
